Oh Boy...

For those who did not/could not watch the Pens vs. Flyers game last night... read this: click me

Now... first of all there are some people saying that in Letang's post-game interview he did in fact say Hartnell bit him, however I watched the interview live and he did NOT say it - he said the media would have to talk to Hartnell and ask him about it. Letang is a classy young man, and he knows not to just go throwing accusations around (even though he also does know what happened...) and as for Hartnell... he's always been a dirty player and I've never liked him one bit because of that. For him to claim he doesn't know what happened is pathetic and a testament to not just the kind of hockey player he is, but to the kind of person he is off the ice and out of his hockey gear. And that person is an awful, rude, ignorant jerk and I'd never want to have anything to do with him. There is NO way what happened was an accident... you don't just "accidentally" bite someone else's hand HARD ENOUGH TO MAKE THEM BLEED whilst in the middle of a little scrum like happened last night. I firmly believe he knows damned well what he did and that he did it on purpose and he's a moron for it. I mean, who the hell does something so STUPID? Other than an immature jerk?

The Flyers and Pens have always had a strong rivalry. You could say I'm biased here since I am a Pens fan, but when such things happen, and in general when talking about the two teams, I do give it an honest effort to be as fair and unbiased as possible. But the simple fact is that the Flyers prove year after year to be a team that cannot lose gracefully. When a game is going against them despite their best efforts, they start to play dirty. I can't respect a team that plays that way. There's a lot to be said for a team who can pull themselves up by the skate laces and take a loss like real men - keep playing hard in an effort to even up the score/come back, and if you can't then let it go and move on and focus on what you need to do to win the next game. The Flyers just don't do that. They start taking cheap shots on the other team - not just the Pens, whoever they are playing at the time - and act like a bunch of goons and not in a cute humorous way.

And Flyers FANS... among the worst in the league. I'm sure there are decent Flyers fans out there... but overall, they're about as bad as their team. They cannot seem to ever cheer their team to help them play a good game. When they play the Pens, they're too busy screaming "Crosby sucks" to cheer for their own team. Heads up guys - this does not make you look cool or smart, it makes you look like a bunch of jealous whiney brats. When they play other teams, they always seem to find some other target on the roster to boo, rather than cheering for their own team's players.

I am anxious to see what the league has to say about last night's incident. I only hope they make the right decision... if not... I may not be able to stomach the league anymore, other than for watching the Pens play. As it stands I LOVE hockey and always will, and I watch every game I get the chance to watch, whether it's a Pens game or not. But if the league does not make a smart move on this matter... well, just like I can't respect a team that plays the way the Flyers do, I can't support a league that does not properly handle such situations when they come up outside of supporting my own hometown team.

Well shucks leah, I hope the league does something to the biter. I went and read the media page. Sure enough it sounds to me like there should be a hefty penalty slapped on the biter.
I can relate about the bad-sportsmanship of fans and teams. It has ruined so many enjoyable sports.
I hope that you stick with the Pens. They need your positive support even if you lost your respect for the league.
It'll be interesting to see how this turns out.

I love your comments on my fae & banshee blog posts. Thanks so much! You made me smile!
Wishing you a fabulous Friday!
